Getting your children to sleep through the night is something which occurs during the first few months, and typically you have smooth sailing after that. However, even once a child becomes potty trained and is not having accidents during the day, it is possible that nighttime bed wetting may occur. When this happens, you need to address the issue in just the right manner to make sure you do not upset the child, nor discourage them from working on better bladder control during the night. Once you have ruled out a medical issue for the bed wetting, it is best to handle the issue when it occurs in a calm and soothing tone of voice. Most likely your child will come and wake you up to let you know they wet the bed. You need to change their clothes, put on a new training or nighttime diaper and change the sheets on the bed. Calmly place you child back in to the dry bed and tell them goodnight. Avoid yelling ,screaming or making fun of the child is the best way to help the child break the habit, as the majority of children who wet the bed at night do so as a stress release or have insecurity issues regarding other things.
