Bed Wetting: What to do about it
Bedwetting is a condition that parents worry about. They sometimes do not know why their children wet their bed. The children may not know either. There are several causes as to why children may wet their bed. These causes should be investigated by the parents and children together.
One of the reasons that children wet the bed is stress. Problems at school or at home may weigh on the child and they do not know how to handle them. Parents should talk to the child’s teacher to find out if there is anything that has changed at school. Bullying is one of the leading causes of stress among children. If this is the case, the school needs to be informed so disciplinary action can be taken. Parents should also talk to the child about how they feel with the life they have at home. Something may be bothering them that they cannot express.
Bedwetting could be a possible medical concern that parents need to discuss with their pediatrician. Boys often wet the bed more than girls because of problems with the urethra. They do not wake themselves up in time to go to the bathroom so they end up wetting the bed.
